Liverpool fans should keep an eye on Barella and Chiesa - RTK View

Liverpool fans should be keeping a close eye on Italy stars Nicolo Barella and Federico Chiesa in today’s Euro 2020 final.

Every football fan in Europe will be tuning in to see Roberto Mancini’s side take on England in the showpiece event.

It is the first major final for the Three Lions since 1966. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is likely to play a crucial role for them.

Yet Italy’s involvement will mean that even non-England supporting Reds will have a big interest in the game.

There are numerous Azzurri players that could become potential transfer targets this summer.

Liverpool are set to target a midfielder and a forward this window.

In Barella and Chiesa, Italy have two players that have been linked to a move to Merseyside.

Barella has quietly been one of the players of the tournament thus far. It keeps in tune with his status as quietly one of the best midfielders in Europe last season.

The mainstream British fan may not be too familiar with him. Yet anyone who saw him help Inter win Serie A last season will know exactly how good he is.

Playing as a No 8 in a 4-3-3, it is easy to see how he would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s midfield. In fact, he would be absolutely perfect.

Calciomercato report that Liverpool have made contact with Inter in the hope of signing the 24-year-old. The Italian side need to sell players this summer to ease their financial issues.

Meanwhile, the same source reports that the Reds have also contacted Juventus about Fede Chiesa. They even claimed that Liverpool agreed a deal to sign him last summer before he chose the Old Lady.

The right-winger has been outstanding in the last few games, having dislodged Domenico Berardi from the side.

He was the hero against both Austria in the last-16 and Spain in the quarter-final, with crucial goals in each game.

The Reds are still interested and could make him their long-term Mohamed Salah replacement.

No matter who you are supporting in tomorrow’s final, or if you really couldn’t care less who wins, watching this duo should keep Liverpool fans interested.

Perhaps Jurgen Klopp will be keeping an eye too.
