Reported Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe is still determined to leave PSG in 2022, according to reports.
While the news broke last week that the Frenchman was not going to extend his deal in Paris, more details have emerged today.
RMC journalist Jano Resseguié (via AS) has claimed that Mbappe’s relationship with sporting director Leonardo has completely broken down.
This will lead to a “more-than-probable divorce” next summer.
Mbappe seemingly informed manager Mauricio Pochettino of his decision after France’s Euro 2020 game against Portugal.
So, the issue is not between the manager and the player, but with the club.
RTK View: Mbappe to Liverpool now a small possibility
This is a promising development for any team hoping to get their hands on Mbappe next year.
Despite PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s intervention, the 22-year-old is still determined to leave the club.
So, in theory, Liverpool can sign Mbappe next year if they play their cards right. There is nothing that PSG can do.
There are only two questions – will the player choose Liverpool over Real Madrid and will the Reds be able to afford his wages?
The 2021/22 season will tell us a lot. If Liverpool win a trophy or two and Real Madrid have a poor campaign, then Mbappe is more likely to choose a move to England.
We hope that the project and the fans will be enough to convince Mbappe to lower his demands.
If not, then unfortunately there is not much hope for the Merseysiders.
