Manchester United 2-4 Liverpool

The Reds headed to Old Trafford knowing that a top four finish is somewhat in their own hands. We just need to win every game.

Things didn’t get off to a good start when Bruno Fernandes’ curling effort was deflected into the Liverpool net by Nat Phillips.

The Bolton Baresi made up for the mistake 10 minutes before halftime when his hard work in the opposition box provided an assist for Diogo Jota.

Liverpool took the lead just before the break when Roberto Firmino nodded in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delicious cross.

The two combined again a couple of minutes into the second half with Firmino tucking in a rebound from Trent’s shot.

Marcus Rashford finished well with just over 20 minutes remaining to make the final quarter of the game a nervy affair.

Mo Salah put the game to bed in the 90th minute, finishing past a bizarrely placed Dean Henderson.

Paul Scholes on Trent Alexander-Arnold

Speaking after the game Paul Scholes was full of praise for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Man United legend was impressed with the defender’s performance, telling Optus Sport:

“Trent’s hit a really good ball in. I have to say I thought he was really good on the night. I thought he was the best player on the pitch.”

What RTK has to say

Paul Scholes praising Trent Alexander-Arnold will mean the world to the youngster.

For all of his faults (playing for United), Scholes is undeniably one of the best strikers of a ball the Premier League has ever seen.

Here’s hoping the Scouser continues to impress him.
