Reports link Liverpool with moves for Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland. But who should the Reds prioritise?
Let’s get the obvious out of the way: Liverpool are not signing all three of Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho & Erling Haaland. They may not sign any.
But reports link them with the trio and we can believe that they’re looking. (AS link Liverpool with Mbappe, Eurosport link them with Haaland, and the Independent with Sancho). Why wouldn’t they? These three are probably the brightest talents on the planet.
And Liverpool do need young talent. Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are all pushing 30. It’s about time to start replacing them – you don’t want to do it all at once.
So if Liverpool are to move for a superstar this summer, who should it be? We give our opinion here.

3. Jadon Sancho
We nearly put Sancho 2nd here but his form this season knocks him down a tad. The Englishman went into December with just two assists to his name, after all.
Fortunately, he appears to be turning it around. Sancho bagged both a goal and assist in each of his last two Bundesliga games.
It’s easy to see where Sancho could fit in at Liverpool. He’s capable on both wings and his direct style suits Jurgen Klopp’s sides.
But the fact he’s had a bad spell puts him in 3rd. The other two just haven’t created those doubts.
2. Erling Haaland
Okay, so it was only a month ago that we said Haaland was the start to sign above all others. But things change.
Or more specifically, you hear things. Like this from Spain, for instance, that says Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola would like to push the player to Barcelona.
Why? Because he fancies improving his relationship with the club. We’re not entirely sure that’s a situation we want Liverpool involved in.
Still, Haaland is so good that we can’t help but want him at Anfield. He’s thrived everywhere he’s been and looks like one of the world’s best at just 20.
He’s a fantastically versatile striker who appears ready to slot into any system. Perfect for Liverpool.
1. Kylian Mbappe
We just have Mbappe down as the player right now. He’s already achieved an incredible amount by 22.
We pointed out Haaland’s success by 20 but Mbappe had played a significant role in delivering a World Cup by that age. He’s just something special.
Although, admittedly, Haaland is held back by playing for Norway in that regard.
Still, Mbappe just looks and feels like the star of football’s next generation. He’s the most versatile of the three, too, capable of playing in all three forward positions.
That’s a luxury that makes him a magnificent option for Liverpool. If they can sign anyone this summer, we hope it’s Mbappe.
