The Reds look to have gotten lucky in the transfer market in recent seasons. Michael Edwards and co have been identifying the best value for money purchases in the game, turning hidden gems into Ballon d’Or shortlisted superstars. Unfortunately, Edwards may have finally gotten unlucky. An injury to Luis Suarez may have scuppered any Liverpool plans to sign Ousmane Dembele any time soon.
There were reports this week in El Desmarque that Jürgen Klopp has been lining up a move for Barcelona’s French winger Ousmane Dembele.
The talented winger could move to Anfield in an £85m deal after failing to live up the astronomical £135.5m fee that Barcelona paid for him in 2017.
There may be a snag preventing any potential deal being pulled off this month. Last week Barcelona took on Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, the Madrid side progressed after overturning Barca’s 2-1 lead.
There was more misery for Valverde as Luis Suarez was forced off with an injury that is set to keep him out of the side until the end of the season, The Mirror reporting that he will be out for at least four months after undergoing surgery.

What RTK has to say
If Luis Suarez prevents Liverpool signing Ousmane Dembele then it could be the last good thing he does for the club.
The reports linking the Reds with the Frenchman were worrying – £85m is a lot of money for a player that has demonstrated some discipline issues in the past. Furthermore, we tend to steer clear of big name signings – Michael Edwards has shown that he prefers to sign low profile players with something to prove.
This could be a case of serendipity by all accounts – we don’t have to splash out on a maverick winger and Barcelona head into the latter stages of the Champions League down a key man.
