This Saturday should feel like a massive test of The Reds’ invincible credentials. However, Spurs are more than out of sorts at the minute. The Champions League finalists have been below par this season, their New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton further compounding the misery in North London. To make matters worse for Spurs, Liverpool have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of Saturday’s game.

The Lilywhites have been disappointing all season, after their European heroics many thought that they would be the team to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table. They have failed to live up to the hype, Mauricio Pochettino was replaced with Jose Mourinho but the club still languish in sixth place.

Spurs go into Saturday’s game missing a number of key players; they are down to the bare bones at left back and are without their talismanic striker Harry Kane. Liverpool on the other hand have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of the game.

The Liverpool ECHO reported this week that Fabinho has been back in training, whilst Jack Sear tweeted that both Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri have also been out and about at Melwood.

What RTK has to say

Whilst the returning trio are unlikely to start on Saturday, having them back in contention is a massive help for Jürgen Klopp. Fabinho has been missing since November, Matip since October, Shaqiri since December.

The squad have had to deal with a number of muscle issues due to the hectic winter schedule, The Reds have been stretched thin in key areas – having Fabinho and Joel Matip back in particular will serve to relieve youngsters that have been thrust into the first team in recent weeks.
