Liverpool have been impressive in the transfer market in recent seasons. The Reds have been buying low and selling high under the guidance of Michael Edwards. Despite Edwards‘ good work, there are still some issues left over from the previous regime – the infamous ‘transfers committee’. With the Reds’ wages having been revealed, Adam Lallana simply must be let go at the end of the season.

Football database Sportrac have listed the Reds’ wages in full and there are some surprising figures in the table. Perhaps none more so than the wages of Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane.

The England international is listed as earning £110k a week whilst Sadio Mane earns £100k a week. This is utterly bonkers and an indication of just how out of hand our dealing under Brendan Rodgers became.

If Liverpool let Adam Lallana go when his contract expires at the end of the season they will free up a massive chunk of the wage budget – money that can be spent rewarding our key players, such as Sadio Mane. Not only should Mane be earning more than Lallana, Mane shouldn’t be earning half of what Mo Salah is raking in. The Egyptian King apparently earns £200k a week at Anfield.

Lallana isn’t the only sore thumb in the table – Lazar Markovic is somehow still cashing £75k a week from the club whilst Joe Gomez earns £28k.

There is clearly a lot of restructuring that needs to be done; getting rid of the deadwood on the wage bill should be one of the club’s priorities. Whilst we are big fans of the dedication and work rate of Adam Lallana, we simply cannot justify his astronomical wages.
