This week has seen the Reds play two games in two days on two continents, reach a World Cup Final and announce a signing that has had Kopites in raptures. Over the moon with Liverpool signing Takumi Minamino, Jürgen Klopp has singled out Michael Edwards for praise.
Minamino joins the club in January on a contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2024, the Reds paid his £7.25m release clause to bring him over from Austria.
The Japanese attacking midfielder was impressive in the Champions League group stage, he netted and assisted at Anfield and ran us ragged on the final matchday in Salzburg.
It is safe to say that the boss is happy with his arrival, Klopp told the official club site:
“This is fabulous news – a wonderful signing. We are really, really happy about this… Takumi is a very quick, very clever player, he finds space between the lines. He is brave with the ball but also brave without the ball – a proper team player. He makes the best of himself for the benefit of others…It is fantastic work by our football operations team in how they’ve handled this transfer. Michael Edwards and the team deserve a lot of credit.”

What RTK has to say
Jürgen Klopp singling out Michael Edwards for praise comes as no surprise. Kopites the world over have been enamoured with the way R Micky has been conducting his business in recent seasons.
The Reds have gained a reputation for being savvy operators in the transfer market, Noel Whelan recently described Edwards as “the best in the business”.
With Edwards pulling off yet another bargain buy, we need to start talking about giving him a flag on the Kop. Maybe another signing or two – if he pulls off Mbappe 2020 he gets a stand named after him.
