The Merseyside Derby is one of the most played and most fiercely competitive fixtures in English football. This Wednesday sees the Reds take on Everton at Anfield with the two sides in dramatically different situations. The Reds are top of the league by eight points whilst The Ev are just two points above the relegation zone, wallowing in 17th place. Mark Lawrenson has explained how he believes Everton can hurt Liverpool at Anfield.

The former Reds defender predicted a 2-0 win for Jürgen Klopp but said there was a weak point for the German. Lawro wrote in his BBC column:
“One worry for Reds fans here is that Alisson is suspended so Adrian will fill in in goal. I think Everton will be very direct and looking to test Adrian from corners and free-kicks, because at set-pieces I think he looks vulnerable.”
What RTK has to say
Mark Lawrenson believes that Everton can exploit Adrian playing in place of our number one – we have to disagree.
Our Spanish deputy performed well above expectations when he stepped into Alisson’s shoes at the start of the season. When the Brazilian dipped out of the team for nearly two months with a calf injury, the ex-West Ham shot stopper kept our only Premier League clean sheets of the season.
The backup keeper also performed admirably against Napoli in Italy. Kopites were encouraged by our free transfer’s form as it reassured us that if Alisson is ever absent it is not the end of the world. Everton may be looking for a weakness in this side but Adrian is certainly not it.
