Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian must get back to his best form quickly.

The Reds no2 has once again been called into first team action.

Alisson Becker received a straight red card against Brighton this weekend and will be banned for three Premier League games.

Adrian will need to be on top form to help us through a tricky month of fixtures.

The Spanish shot-stopper looked far from convincing when he came on against “The Albion”. Adrian looked off the pace despite making a couple of routine saves and being named man of the match by Jurgen Klopp.

His first moments on the pitch saw him stranded by a quickly taken Lewis Dunk free kick. Adrian failed to sort his wall in time and referee Martin Atkinson blew his whistle allowing the Brighton player to roll the ball into the opposite corner in a truly bizarre fashion.

Liverpool spent the rest of the game clinging on for three points however a fumble from Adrian almost cost us. A tame header towards goal from Brighton appeared easy pickings but the former West Ham ‘keeper made a meal of it. Firstly fumbling the shot, then almost pawing it into his own net.  It was really a heart in mouth moment before he pounced on the loose ball.

This type of stuff is not what Liverpool fans have come to expect from Adrian. During an early season goalkeeping crisis, he was a truly exceptional stand in. The Liverpool ‘keeper help us pick up the Super Cup and start the season with nine consecutive Premier League wins.

Let’s hope his unconvincing cameo against Brighton was just him shaking off the cob webs because we are going to need him at his best.
