Saturday afternoon sees Liverpool journey to South London as they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The Eagles’ promising start to the season has slowed down and they find themselves in 12th place going into the fixture. The Reds enter the game top of the table by eight points. At his pre-match press conference, Jürgen Klopp discussed the biggest threat to Liverpool in the title race.
Liverpool’s official site broadcast the pre-match presser. When asked what is the biggest threat to Liverpool in the title race, Klopp told the media:
“We don’t think about the title race, the biggest challenge is facing silly questions about it… These challenges are big enough, we don’t think about anything else.”
What RTK has to say
Jurgen’s views on any threat to Liverpool in the title race couldn’t be less surprising. The German’s consistent stoicism is staggering, even frustrating at times.

Whenever the Reds pull off an amazing result, edge further ahead of the pack or pick up an individual award, the gaffer refuses to acknowledge it. Like clockwork, the manager will tell us that they are only thinking about the next game.
Although this approach may not grab headlines and leave journalists going hungry, feeding off scraps at times, it has proven successful for the Reds thus far – they refuse to be drawn into the fervour surrounding the squad. They are simply taking each game as it comes and more often than not, winning that game.
It is unlikely that we will hear anything from the gaffer about Liverpool in the title race until it is actually over. There are a lot of games left to play, let’s just win them one at a time.
