This Saturday sees Liverpool return to Premier League action as they journey to South London to face Crystal Palace. The Reds are top of the pile by eight points whilst The Eagles are 12th. Selhurst Park is never an easy place to go, Liverpool may have received an injury boost with Wilfried Zaha a potential doubt for the fixture.
The Evening Standard reported that Wilfried Zaha is a ‘minor concern’ after being caught on the foot against Chelsea before the international break. Joel Ward also picked up a problem in the game, feeling some discomfort in his groin.
What RTK has to say
Whilst Zaha is only a minor doubt for the fixture, it would be no surprise to see Roy Hodgson leave the forward out of the game as a precaution. Liverpool are strong favourites going into the fixture, if there any concerns over their talisman’s fitness then the ex-Reds boss may not risk him in a fixture they are likely to lose.
Palace, like the rest of the league, have a hectic winter schedule ahead of them. They will need their star man fit for this congested fixture list. It could be a massive gamble to play Wilfried Zaha on Saturday; if the player aggravates his injury and the Eagles lose the game it could cost them more points than necessary.
However, without the imposing forward they are not the same side. He is a focal point for their attacks and is arguably their only man that can change a game in an instant, his absence would be a massive boost for Liverpool.
