Wednesday night saw Liverpool beat Arsenal on penalties in the EFL Cup fourth round. It was a game for the ages as the Reds were two goals behind the visitors on two occasions yet somehow the young lads turned the match on its head. The game finished 5-5 in normal time before Liverpool won 5-4 on penalties with local lad Curtis Jones converting the vital spot kick. After the game Jürgen Klopp made the bold threat that he will have to withdraw from the League Cup if the Reds are not given an appropriate date for the quarter finals.
Speaking after the game, as reported by the Liverpool ECHO, Klopp said: “if they don’t find a proper date for us, then we cannot play the next round.”
The Club World Cup semi finals are on the 18th of December, the EFL Cup quarters are scheduled for the 17th and 18th. Twitter has reacted the the Klopp threat to withdraw.
One fan found it unbelievable that we went through such a thrilling game just to withdraw.
So you’re telling me they went all the way through the 90 minutes + the penalty shout-out embarrassing Arsenal with the U13s squad just to forfeit the competition? You can’t make this shit up 😆 pic.twitter.com/olNKSQU2WJ

Another supporter thought it was great that the gaffer is focusing on the bigger tournament out of the two.

Whilst these fans believe the Klopp threat to withdraw comes as no surprise given the conspiracy theories surrounding the substitution of Pedro Chirivella against MK Dons.
Klopp really doesn’t want to bother with this does he 🤣

He just can’t hide it anymore on how much he want out of this competition

An Arsenal supporter joked that the Liverpool gaffer was going out of his way to make sure his side didn’t progress but Unai Emery wouldn’t stand for it.
He did everything to lose this Match. But our Clown of a Manager said No. It’s Arsenal’s to lose. I have got this.

Whilst a Kopite helpfully pointed out that Watford would be happy to oblige us by playing us when it doesn’t matter.
Postpone the Watford game, sure they wouldn’t mind playing the game early may when we’ve already won the league 🙂
