Liverpool are reportedly chasing out-of-favour Juventus defender Daniele Rugani. According to Calciomercato the Reds are keen on the Italian centre-back.
The 25-year-old has been frozen out under Maurizio Sarri and is yet to make an appearance this season.
He recently signed a new deal with the Turin-based club but appears to have no future under the former Chelsea boss.
The Reds appear to be in the market for another centre-back option. Jurgen Klopp’s side have also been linked with Brighton defender Ben White in recent times.
Liverpool may well be seeking a replacement for Dejan Lovren. After all, the 30-year-old Croatian defender’s time on Merseyside appears to be coming to an end.
Rugani would offer competition for Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez for a starting place in the Liverpool back line.
According to the above report the 25-year-old Italian is valued at £20m and Juventus are open to selling the player.
However, the Reds face stiff competition should they make a move. Arsenal, Manchester United and AC Milan are all believed to be pursuing Rugani.
Liverpool, despite offering the chance to join the European champions, may struggle to convince the player to come to Anfield.
The Italian needs game time and that is not something anyone can be guaranteed in Klopp’s side.
