Liverpool should sell Dejan Lovren during the winter transfer window. In short, Jurgen Klopp’s defence always looks shaky when the Croatian is in it.
The 30-year-old was at fault for an early Tottenham goal yesterday and struggled throughout the game.
After five years on Merseyside it’s time to accept Lovren will never be good enough for the Reds.
The Croatia international has never really hit the heights during his time at Liverpool.
A string of good performances has almost always been followed by a huge howler. Yesterday’s match saw the defender make the same mistakes he has been making since his arrival at the club.
Now into his thirties, it is time to accept Lovren won’t make it at Liverpool and cash in while we can.
During the summer transfer window, the Croat’s future was widely speculated about with several clubs believed to be interested.
The value of Lovren will only decease with time, so Liverpool should look to recoup what they can at the turn of the year.
This would allow Joe Gomez to play more often. The England international has been relegated to fourth choice centre back and is reportedly losing his patience at Liverpool.
Gomez is one of the brightest defensive talents in football and Klopp will be keen to keep the 22-year-old happy at Anfield.
The Reds would need to replace Lovren and are thought to be chasing Brighton’s Ben White. If a deal can be made this paves the way for the Croatian’s Anfield exit.
Lovren’s time on Merseyside is done and Liverpool should sell him sooner rather than later.
