Declan Rice has become one of English football’s hottest properties. The 20-year-old midfielder has quickly established himself as a fan favourite, performing with experience well beyond his years at West Ham. The dogged ball winner has already made 75 first team appearances for the Hammers despite his young age. The former Republic of Ireland international has hailed Liverpool’s Fabinho as the best in their position in the world.

Rice has been gaining quite the reputation in the football world and rumours have suggested he is on the shopping list of both Manchester clubs, though he will cost any potential suitor a pretty penny due to his boundless potential. Speaking at the FIFA20 launch, in a video posted by Spencer FC on YouTube, Declan Rice is asked who he believes to be the best defensive midfielder in the world to be, he replied “Fabinho.”

Liverpool’s Brazilian midfield enforcer has rapidly established himself at the very top of the game. He had to wait patiently for his introduction to the Reds side, he made only sporadic appearances until the winter period of the 2018/19 season. After the New Year, Fabinho staked his claim for a starting berth and never looked back, he has made himself totally undroppable.

Declan Rice is alive to the Brazilian’s progress in the league, saying “he’s adapted to the Premier League really quickly, he sees a pass, reads the game well”. It is Fabinho’s ability to win the ball back and be positive in possession that has caught the eye of pundits across the game, he rarely looks to play the ball sideways, instead looking to fire it into a forward’s feet. The lanky Brazilian can only get better, how do you get better than the best in the world though?
