Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have both returned to Liverpool training early following their World Cup campaigns with England.
If you really needed another reason to love Trent Alexander-Arnold, he’s just given you one.
The 19-year old was confirmed on Monday to be part of Liverpool’s travelling squad to take part in a five day training camp in Evian, France.
Despite his participation in the 2018 World Cup in Russia taking him all the way to England’s third placed play-off against Belgium on July 15th, the young right-back was so keen to return to first-team training that he has cut his holiday short in order to be a part of the camp.
Initially expected to return during the week preceding Liverpool’s first Premier League fixture against West Ham on August 12th, Alexander-Arnold will instead report to Melwood on Tuesday morning for preliminary fitness testing before joining up with the rest of the squad in France.
Joining the young defender in cutting his holiday short is the club captain Jordan Henderson who is expected to battle Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keïta for a starting place in the Reds’ midfield when West Ham visit on the opening day.
While Henderson will not be a part of the training camp in France over the next week, nor will he play any part of the friendly scheduled against Napoli on Saturday evening, the captain has already returned to Melwood in order to step up his preparations ahead of the coming campaign.
With Roberto Firmino and Liverpool new-boy Alisson Becker also joining up with the squad in France, Klopp nearly has his entire first-team back with just Simon Mignolet and Dejan Lovren left to return.
The pair are expected back at Melwood next week following the friendly with Napoli.
