Liverpool kick off their 2026/27 Premier League campaign on August 23 against Newcastle United.
But with just one month to go until competitive football is back on our screens, the Reds’ squad is arguably in a worse state than it was back in May.
Victor Munoz is the only new player to arrive at Anfield in the 2026 summer transfer window so far, and it’s fair to say a lot of fans are not happy.
Now the fixtures have been revealed, do you think Liverpool will win the Premier League in 26/27?
Liverpool’s lack of transfers is concerning fans
Aside from the fact that there has been so little transfer activity since the window opened in June, supporters are worried that players aren’t even really being linked with moves.
In turn, a number have expressed their ire on social media, with some grim predictions for 2026/27 forthcoming, including a spot in the Europa Conference League:
- “After the season we had and the outgoings so far, it’s nothing short of incompetence. Pretty disgraceful for a club that needed to get its business done early.”
- “I don’t understand until now, they haven’t pursued anyone except Barcola.”
- “Mate, let’s wrap it up this season. Hughes is dropping an all-time stinker; we won’t even sign a player after Barcola, if we even do that, not even linked to anyone; we are so much weaker.”
- “No links to anyone either; it’s looking dark.”
- “30 days to go and we’re not doing anything serious in the market
- “The club probably view this year as a rebuild / secure 4th year.”
- “Conference League next year gonna be fire.”
- “We still haven’t replaced Mo Salah.”
It is easy to see why fans are so angry when you look at the state of Andoni Iraola’s squad right now.
Ibrahima Konate left on a free, and Giovanni Leoni is still injured, yet there are no plans to sign a new centre-back.
But using Joe Gomez as the third-choice option will obviously work out, right? It’s not like he’s ever sidelined with injuries.
Elsewhere, Liverpool’s left-back position has been downgraded now Andy Robertson is gone, and instead of signing a replacement, Kostas Tsimikas is back in the picture despite never being good enough to start regularly at Anfield.
Further forward, the Reds’ midfield needs fresh legs, and it is truly baffling that despite knowing he was going to leave months in advance, there still isn’t a concrete plan in place to replace Mohamed Salah.
Bradley Barcola is the only name who looks remotely close to signing, and he isn’t even a natural right-winger.
There’s still time to make new signings, of course, but why wait until the end of the window, when incoming players won’t even have had a proper pre-season under Iraola?
