Liverpool are having a hard time trying to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, and their attention has now turned towards Bradley Barcola.
With Yan Diomande likely to join PSG or stay in Germany, there are not too many quality winger options on the market.
Barcola is the most heavily linked with Liverpool right now, but fans just don’t see how the French star is in any way an upgrade on Rio Ngumoha.
Who should Liverpool’s new top target be after being rejected by Yan Diomande?
This is a BIG blow to the Reds' summer plans 😓
Rio Ngumoha a better player than Liverpool target Bradley Barcola
The Reds did not sign the World Cup participant due to fears about Ngumoha’s development, and that concern is once again a major talking point amongst supporters in 2026.
Barcola can technically play off the left, but he is a natural left winger and would likely occupy that role most of the time if he moved to Anfield.
However, after watching the forward in semi-final action against Spain this week, a number of the Liverpool faithful have made it clear they would rather just have Ngumoha.
Liverpool fan reaction to Barcola vs Spain:
- “Barcola for me doesn’t offer much more than Rio.”
- “I really don’t want us to sign Barcola. I’d rather Rio be the regular starting LW.”
- “No need to buy Bradley Barcola as Rio is playing extremely well on the left wing. Rather, we must go for someone on the right wing.”
- “I know it’s annoying because we’d like to sign someone at least, but if the option is 100m on Barcola or waiting a year and getting someone else, I choose Option B. He’s absolutely not worth the fee, and that game confirms it for me. £50m player at most. Rio is genuinely better.”
- “Not sold on Barcola for the money at all! Much rather see Rio play every week.”
- “Not a fan of the potential Barcola signing tbh. Same side as Rio and he should be starting the majority of games next season, but hardly gonna put a 100 odd million player on the bench are we?”
- “Rio is miles better than Barcola.”
- “100m for Barcola !!! Rio looks a better player; don’t think we need him!!!.”
To be honest, it is pretty strange to see Barcola being so heavily mooted to join Liverpool at present.
Victor Munoz has already signed this summer, and there are reports that Cody Gakpo will be staying.
So why would the Merseyside outfit go out and sign another player who is best utilised off the left?
The focus, now Diomande is off the cards, should be on an actual right-sided attacker who can fill the boots of Salah.
Rayan and Antonio Nusa are among other options linked to Liverpool, but for some reason, it seems like Barcola is the most likely to sign.
