Liverpool supporters have been intrigued to see the make-up of Andoni Iraola’s first coaching staff after joining the club as a replacement for Arne Slot.
The Reds have officially confirmed the arrival of four backroom team members – all of them joining from Bournemouth – but the door remains ajar for a further appointment.
There have been continuous rumours that a former Liverpool player could be added to the staff, by way of ensuring someone with knowledge and experience of the club is there to help Iraola.
How does Andoni Iraola fit Wirtz and Isak into Liverpool’s starting XI next season?
Will we finally see the best of them after encouraging World Cups?
And after Rousing The Kop confirmed the news that Thiago Alcantara will not be joining on Saturday, Reds legend Robbie Fowler appeared to throw his hat into the ring.
Fowler suggests he is qualified to join Liverpool’s staff
Following Thiago’s confirmation that he does not have requisite badges to join Liverpool this summer, RTK posted on X to relay the news and ask supporters who they would like to see arrive instead.
Fowler responded, suggesting that he could be available and is ready to make the leap.
“I wonder who’s qualified , hmmmmm,” posted the Scouser, with fans immediately leaping on his post to urge him into a return.

Fowler certainly is qualified, having been a manager at four different clubs since retiring from his playing career.
Though he has been an aspiring manager for some time, the 51-year-old is yet to be offered a chance in English football.
His most recent job came at the end of 2023, when he joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah, leading them to an unbeaten eight-game start in the Saudi second division, before seeing his contract terminated.
If Iraola wants somebody steeped in the club on the staff, there would be few more appropriate than Fowler. It was perhaps most likely just a throwaway comment from the former striker, but having already returned to the club once during his playing days, another comeback would be brilliantly received by the fanbase.
