Liverpool and Newcastle United’s relationship in the transfer market over the last few windows hasn’t exactly been positive in the eyes of the Magpies fans.
Firstly, the Reds pushed hard to sign Alexander Isak from the North East outfit, while also landing Hugo Ekitike ahead of them.
More recently, Victor Munoz was a Newcastle target, but he was confirmed as a Reds player last week. Now, Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Said El Mala are both wanted by Eddie Howe’s side, but they are also on Liverpool’s list.

Liverpool have lost Mohamed Salah this summer, while the aforementioned Ekitike is a long-term absentee.
In turn, attacking reinforcements are expected at Anfield over the coming months.
At present, Liverpool are pushing hard for Yan Diomande, who appears to be the main option to come in for Mo Salah on the right.
But should their pursuit of Diomande, who is also wanted by PSG, fail, then the Reds could sign yet more of Newcastle’s targets.
According to journalist Craig Hope: “Newcastle like winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo at Lille, but there is a feeling he’ll have options elsewhere. Also monitoring situation of Said El Mala at Cologne. The pair are among Liverpool’s list of back-up options in wide areas.”

Matias Fernandez-Pardo could be Liverpool’s new Cody Gakpo
While Fernandez-Pardo may be viewed as an ideal option to come in as a winger, he is incredibly versatile.
The 21-year-old scored eight and assisted five in 29 Ligue 1 matches for Lille last season when playing off the right, as a centre-forward and on the left wing.
With Ekitike not back until the end of 2026 at the earliest, Liverpool lack centre-forward depth, and the Belgian forward could fill that void.
Like Cody Gakpo, who could leave this summer, he is proven all across the frontline and could easily replace the Dutchman while providing cover for Ekitike.
His arrival, however, would only make sense if the Reds also brought in another high-level winger to take up the Salah role on a consistent basis.
