Liverpool are reportedly working hard to keep Yan Diomande convinced of a move to Anfield ahead of tabling an improved offer to RB Leipzig for the winger.
The Reds had a €100m bid rejected by the German club earlier this week, but are expected to return with an even bigger financial package.
Having watched him at the World Cup against Germany on Saturday, Liverpool supporters are not totally convinced by Diomande, but according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are offering both a top salary and an attractive project to get total buy-in from the youngster.
How impressive has Yan Diomande been at the 2026 World Cup?!
Liverpool pushing for Diomande assurances
As well as the huge money needed to convince Leipzig to part with Diomande, the player’s own preference has been a big part in this story over the summer so far.
There has previously been mystery over whether the Ivorian wanted to stay at Leipzig for another season before moving on in 2027, or if he was keen on leaving this year for either Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to his YouTube channel early on Sunday morning, Romano said that the Reds are pushing hard to convince Diomande that a move this summer is in his best interests.

“Liverpool will bid again, there is no doubt. I already told you, and I can confirm, Liverpool will be back to the table of negotiations,” he said.
“Liverpool are pushing on the player’s side and what I can tell you also behind the scenes is that Liverpool are trying their best in terms of financial proposal and project to get the player on their side 100 per cent.
“Why? Because Red Bull Leipzig keep insisting they want to keep Yan Diomande and continue with him. They believe that keeping him is a smart decision, giving him a big salary, new contract with a release clause and next summer, 2027, he can decide whatever he wants after playing Champions League football with Leipzig.
“But game after game, day after day, it’s always more difficult to keep Yan Diomande at the club. Why? Because now there are several clubs interested, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, very aggressive, and also because Liverpool will bid more than 100 million Euros in order to try and change the situation.”

Romano reveals that Diomande wants to leave
Later in the day, Romano posted on X to reveal that Diomande has now made his decision, and that his preference is to leave in the current summer transfer window.
“Liverpool are prepared to bid again for Yan Diomande after opening €100m proposal got rejected,” said the transfer expert.
“RB Leipzig insist to keep Diomande for one more season, player prefers to leave now.”
With Liverpool’s hard work on Diomande appearing to have paid off, all that is left to do is negotiate an acceptable fee with Leipzig.
It is going to be a lot of money, but if the Reds firmly believe that the teenager is the man to replace Mohamed Salah, then there is little reason for them to walk away now.
