Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni has been backed to make a big impact in the first-team in the years to come under Andoni Iraola.
Some Reds fans were left disappointed by the amount of football Nyoni was afforded under Arne Slot last season, with the 18-year-old playing just minutes in the Premier League.
With Slot gone, and some surgery expected within the Liverpool midfield, there is a feeling that Nyoni could play a big part.
Now the fixtures have been revealed, do you think Liverpool will win the Premier League in 26/27?
And according to Liverpool academy director Alex Inglethorpe, the teenager will not only take the ‘next step’ in 2026/27, but he will go on to play a big part for the Reds into the future too.
Nyoni backed to play ‘a lot of games’ for Liverpool
When Nyoni was given chances last season, he looked extremely comfortable.
The Liverpool midfield has been missing some control for a little while now, and though he clearly needs more experience, Nyoni did provide that in snatches.
Speaking to The Athletic, Inglethorpe amplified this feeling, confirming that the former Leicester City prospect has settled into the first-team picture seamlessly.

“Watching Trey train, he looks ever so comfortable in that first-team environment,” he said, before claiming that he now expects Nyoni to step things up even further.
“There has to be juncture where you go from training every day with them to turning that into minutes on the pitch, and that’s where he’s at now,” Inglethorpe added.
“He’s shown patience and he’s ready to take the next step next season. I’ve got every confidence that Trey will go on to play a lot of games for this club.”
When Slot arrived at the club in 2024, Nyoni quickly caught his eye as arguably the best young player at the club.
With Iraola now set to grant every player a clean slate, the youngster will have to prove himself again, but if he can make a similarly positive impression, he should hopefully be granted the opportunity to become a bona fide option for the new boss.
