Alisson Becker helped Brazil pick up their first win of the 2026 World Cup on Saturday morning, playing the full 90 minutes of a 3-0 win over Haiti.

The Selecao had, of course, been heavy favourites to beat the Caribbean minnows, and comfortably got the job done, with a double from Matheus Cunha and a goal from Vinicius Jnr doing the job.

Alisson also played his part, the Liverpool goalkeeper pulling off a couple of nice-looking saves, and the Brazilian national media were left impressed by his performance.

Alisson earns praise for World Cup clean sheet

Brazil were frustrated during their opening match of the World Cup, only managing a draw against Morocco, meaning the pressure was on a little to make sure a win was delivered against Haiti.

Alisson was one of the players who came in for some criticism after the Morocco match, with a feeling that he could have done better for Ismael Saibiri’s opening goal.

Happily, Liverpool’s No. 1 was in better form against Haiti, with ESPN Brazil noting that he delivered an ‘exceptional performance.’

In light of that praise, Alisson’s rating of 6.5 out of 10 felt a little on the low side, but one ‘great save’ to stop a Haiti header is highlighted.

Alisson also showed off how good he is with the ball at his feet, sending one Haiti attacker to the floor with a feint at one stage, and this ‘dribble’ is also given some praise by ESPN.

Globo handed Alisson a 6.5 rating as well, claiming that the 33-year-old was ‘secure when needed.’

His save to prevent Haiti scoring from a header is given the spotlight again, while Globo also point out another good stop Alisson made late in the game, coming out to prevent a goal from a one-v-one situation, something Liverpool fans have seen many a time.

All in all, Alisson ended the match having made three saves, two of which were from efforts inside the penalty box, and managed to keep a clean sheet despite facing shots of an xG of 0.43.

From a Liverpool point of view, it was also another match in which the goalie avoided picking up an injury, which is never an absolute guarantee with Alisson. Having picked up their first win of the tournament, Brazil will next face Scotland, and Andy Robertson on Wednesday.
