Liverpool confirmed the signing of Victor Munoz this week, but the Spanish winger is already facing problems.
The Reds activated Munoz’s release clause, but are only paying half of that fee up front.
Ahead of his arrival at Anfield, the forward is competing at the 2026 World Cup with Spain. However, their FA have now confirmed that the incoming Red is dealing with an injury problem.
How excited are you by Liverpool’s surprise signing of Victor Munoz?
And what do you think his role will be next season? Is he an immediate starter?
Spanish FA confirm Victor Munoz injury blow
Munoz was injured prior to the World Cup but still managed to make the squad.
However, he then did not play in any of their pre-tournament friendlies and stayed on the bench for their opening group match.
Now, it has been confirmed that the new Liverpool signing has picked up a new injury while away in North America.
As quoted by SPORT, the Spanish FA stated: “During the scheduled and individualized recovery process, an additional muscle injury has occurred that will delay his return to competition.”
Exactly how long Munoz will be out of action remains to be seen, but signing another player with injury problems is not what Liverpool need.
Now the fixtures have been revealed, do you think Liverpool will win the Premier League in 26/27?
Alexander Isak hardly kicked a ball last season after suffering from multiple injuries following his record signing from Newcastle United.
Jeremie Frimpong was also constantly in and out of the team, forcing Dominik Szoboszlai to play out of position at right-back.
Elsewhere, fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike is not expected to return to the field until the beginning of 2027 after he picked up an ACL injury in April.
Spain are next in World Cup action against Saudi Arabia this coming Sunday before rounding out their group stage against Uruguay on June 27.
They are expected to enjoy a deep run at the tournament, but Munoz’s involvement in said ties seems to be up in the air.
