Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool exit has already been one of the most painful stories of a difficult summer at Anfield, but the situation has not completely gone quiet.
The Egyptian looked set to move on after a frustrating end to his time under Arne Slot, with questions over form and his relationship with the manager feeding into a messy final chapter.
Now, one of Salah’s Egypt teammates has suggested that the forward may not know exactly what comes next. His agent has since responded to that claim, and with the World Cup now the immediate priority, the future of a Liverpool legend still carries a little uncertainty.

Mo Salah’s agent responds after Egypt team-mate makes Liverpool claim
Ahmed El Shenawy has offered an interesting line on Salah’s situation, suggesting that the prospect of leaving Liverpool has had an effect on him.
Speaking to Egyptian broadcaster ONSport, El Shenawy said: “The prospect of leaving Liverpool has affected Mohamed Salah, but the situation might change and he could still stay with the team.
“He even told me that he doesn’t know anything about his future yet.”
Sky Sports Premier League later reported (via X) that Salah’s agent had emphasised he and his client do not discuss “sensitive” plans about the forward’s future with “people not involved”.
That response felt like a clear attempt to cool the idea that anyone outside Salah’s closest circle has the full picture. At the same time, the fact those comments are being discussed at all shows how much uncertainty still surrounds the Egyptian.

There has already been plenty said about how the end of Salah’s time at Liverpool played out. Dejan Lovren recently came to Salah’s defence, while the Egyptian’s own frustration is also said to have played a part in Slot being sacked by Liverpool.
For now, though, he has something far bigger directly in front of him. Egypt are at the World Cup, and his focus will be on dragging his country as far as possible before any club decision becomes the main story again.
Once the tournament is over, it will be fascinating to see where he ends up. A Liverpool stay still feels unlikely, but until Salah’s next move is confirmed, the speculation around him is not going away.
