Liverpool displayed the faith they have in Rio Ngumoha on Friday by standing firm in the face of interest from Bayern Munich.

Bayern are reportedly keen to sign the teenager this summer, but the latest is that Liverpool will absolutely not allow Ngumoha to leave.

After re-confirming that stance during a video on his YouTube channel on Friday night, journalist Fabrizio Romano said that the same may not be true of Cody Gakpo, who could leave the club if an appropriate offer arrives.

Gakpo has interest and could leave

After a difficult season as Liverpool’s starting left winger, plenty of supporters would be fine with the idea of Gakpo leaving this summer.

The Reds clearly want to improve in that position, and with faith being put in Ngumoha, that may leave the Dutchman out in the cold.

According to Romano, that is a genuine possibility, with interest likely to arrive in Gakpo.

“On Rio Ngumoha, I don’t think he’s leaving Liverpool this summer. We have to see what’s going to happen around Cody Gakpo in case Liverpool receive an important proposal.” he said.

“Liverpool want to go and strengthen the wingers position, they already lost Mohamed Salah. Let’s see if some club arrives with a proposal for Cody Gakpo. There is interest in him.

“Then it’s going to be on Liverpool to decide whether he’s going to stay or let him leave, that’s going to be a club decision as well with the coach Andoni Iraola.

“But don’t forget that Liverpool are very busy with wingers,” Romano added. “Yan Diomande, in a fight with Paris Saint-Germain and not only, so Liverpool are in a really important moment to make decisions on wingers. On Ngumoha, the decision’s already done, let’s see who’s arriving for Gakpo.”

Despite the frustration with Gakpo’s performances this season, it would be a gamble for Liverpool to sell yet another forward player, with Federico Chiesa likely to leave as well.

With a new signing and Ngumoha as Iraola’s left-sided options, Gakpo can still do a job centrally, or even on the right. There is no need to jump the gun here, but if a good offer arrives, it would not be a surprise to see Liverpool sell.
