Liverpool have responded to Bayern Munich’s surprise interest in Rio Ngumoha by issuing a clear hands-off warning.

Bayern’s desire to buy Ngumoha was solidified on Friday evening, with journalist David Ornstein breaking the news that the German club see him as a key target for the left side of their attack.

However, as Fabrizio Romano has now relayed, Liverpool will not entertain any bids for Ngumoha this summer.

Liverpool set ‘untouchable’ status for Ngumoha

Plenty of Liverpool supporters’ hearts will have dropped at seeing the news that Bayern are targeting Ngumoha.

Although the 17-year-old seems happy and settled at Anfield, there have been claims coming out of Germany that he has already agreed terms with the Bundesliga champions.

Nevertheless, as Romano reports on X, that will continue to be redundant this summer, with Liverpool setting an ‘untouchable’ status for their young gem.

“Liverpool stance on Rio Ngumoha, not just today but for months: untouchable,” posted the transfer expert.

“Seen as crucial part of the project and no chance for his exit, LFC view is clear.”

It remains to be seen whether Bayern will try their luck with a bid to test Liverpool’s resolve, but in truth an exit for Ngumoha would not make a great deal of sense for anyone at this juncture.

The teenager is clearly going to be a big part of Andoni Iraola’s first Liverpool squad and for years into the future on Merseyside.

Barring anything dramatic, it would be a surprise to see him depart in the coming months.
