Arne Slot is leaving Liverpool, and departing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola could replace the Dutchman.

After deciding to call time on his Cherries career, it had been suggested that Iraola was waiting for the Reds’ job.

Up until Fabrizio Romano claimed that Slot is leaving Liverpool, it seemed unlikely he would become manager anytime soon, though. But now he is named as a favourite to take charge, he could be the perfect manager for incoming signing Jeremy Jacquet.

Is Andoni Iraola the best option to replace Arne Slot? If not, who would you appoint?

Jeremy Jacquet would thrive under Andoni Iraola at Liverpool

Jacquet agreed a move to Liverpool in the 2026 winter transfer window, but is not joining the squad until this summer.

The Frenchman arrives with a lot of pressure on him to be an instant hit now that Ibrahima Konate is leaving on a free transfer.

Still only 20, he has very limited experience at the top of the game, but Iraola is well-known for developing young, ball-playing centre-backs into top-class talent.

How happy are you that Arne Slot is leaving Liverpool?!

Why did Liverpool wait so long to sack him?

During his time at Bournemouth, the Spaniard worked very closely with Dean Huijsen, who impressed a great deal in the Premier League last term.

Huijsen then secured a big-money move to Real Madrid last year, and he is now a key figure for one of Europe’s most dominant sides.

It was a similar story with Illia Zabarnyi, who is now shining in Paris with PSG after spending several years working with Iraola at Bournemouth.

Up until this weekend, fears that Liverpool’s new-look, young centre-back ranks would struggle were rife, but the potential arrival of Iraola should alleviate that pressure.
