Liverpool are set to lose Andy Robertson for free when his contract expires at the end of June, while Alisson now looks more likely to stay.

Robertson nearly left Anfield in the 2026 January transfer window after losing his starting berth to Milos Kerkez. Tottenham Hotspur were linked at the time and are still in the running for the player, but Juventus are now attempting to hijack that move.

At the same time, Alisson has been told Liverpool want him to stay amid links to the Italian outfit, which is a very wise decision from Richard Hughes and co.

How would you rate Andy Robertson’s trophy-laden Liverpool career?

Juventus could sign Andy Robertson after Alisson blow

After coming close in January, Spurs are thought to have an agreement in principle for the Scottish left-back.

However, Juventus are also aiming to make a late push for his signature, as Ben Jacobs has now relayed on X/Twitter.

He stated: Juventus made a hijack move today to try and sign Andy Robertson, as @DiMarzio called. Talks have taken place to understand the conditions of a transfer.

“Juventus are now weighing up whether to make a formal offer. Spurs already have an agreement in principle with Robertson, but nothing has been signed yet.

“Deal was put in place after the January window shut, and subject to Spurs staying up.”

Juventus are set to play Europa League football next season, which is more than Tottenham can offer Robertson.

It remains to be seen where the Scotsman will end up, but it now looks like the Serie A side are at least going to miss out on one Liverpool player this summer.

Alisson to Juventus has been mooted for a while and did seem pretty close at one point.

The Brazilian has another year remaining on his deal at Anfield, though, and there are no plans to let him depart this summer.

As Fabrizio Romano has now explained: “Understand Liverpool informed Alisson about their desire and plan to keep him for one more year.

“Juventus offered Alisson a longer deal but #LFC insist to keep him. Only player position could change stance but Liverpool clearly want him to stay.”

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

Keeping Alisson is a big win for Liverpool

Alisson has been in and out of the team this season due to injury problems, suffering similar issues in 2024/25.

The Brazilian may not be at the same level he was a few years ago, but his leadership qualities cannot be underestimated.

With Robertson and Salah going, Liverpool’s core group of senior players is dwindling, something Virgil van Dijk commented on last month.

He said: “You have to ask the question to the guys higher up. The leadership boys are falling apart – in terms of players leaving – so players have to step up and see what the guys making the decisions are going to do.”

Losing Alisson as well this summer would have left the Dutchman as Liverpool’s only high-profile, experienced leader from the Jurgen Klopp era.

But now that the goalkeeper seems likely to stick around for another year, it gives Liverpool more time to build up other names, such as Dominik Szoboszlai, to become more established figures who can lead by example.
