Fabrizio Romano says there could now be a ‘problem’ which might affect Alisson leaving Liverpool

Alisson Becker has been mooted to leave Liverpool this summer, following in the footsteps of Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah.

Juventus want to sign Alisson, with the Brazilian thought to be open to the prospect of returning to Italy.

However, the Turin-based outfit could miss out on Champions League football for the 2026/27 campaign, which Fabrizio Romano has suggested could be a problem when it comes to landing the Liverpool shot-stopper.

Who should be Liverpool’s No. 1 next season if Alisson leaves?

Juventus signing Alisson could be impacted by Champions League football

Juve are currently sixth in the Serie A heading into the final day of the season this weekend.

The Italian giants are taking on Torino on Sunday and have to win to have any chance of making it into the top four.

Juventus are two points off fourth place, but fifth-place Como are on the same points with a plus-five goal difference.

Discussing the impact that no top-tier European have will have on them signing Alisson, Romano said: “Well, certainly not playing in the Champions League is a problem, especially in terms of presenting a project to players of this calibre.

He continued: “Juve are talking about Alisson.

“Juve could offer two plus one or three. So Juve is making this a discussion tied to several factors, not just the Champions League. It’s clear that Juve hopes Alisson can be tempted just as he has been in recent weeks. I’ve been telling you for weeks about Alisson’s total openness to Juve, and I won’t deny it. That is, Alisson is truly tempted by Juventus. It’s clear, without the Champions League, a point is lost, but Alisson certainly knows Juve is still there.

“Juve isn’t withdrawing their offer. Then we’ll have to figure out what happens in Liverpool, what they want to do with Liverpool, because that has always been the real deciding factor in the Alisson deal. But Juventus will want to try. In any case, let’s wait for the weekend’s results and then we’ll understand.”

Will Liverpool replace Alisson?

Should Alisson indeed move on this summer, Liverpool have Giorgi Mamardashvili as a second-choice option.

However, there are doubts about Mamardashvili emerging inside Anfield, and talk of a new goalkeeper being brought in has emerged.

Three Premier League goalkeepers are linked to Liverpool, including James Trafford, who has not been playing regularly at Manchester City this season.

FC Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa was also named as an option alongside Brighton and Hove Albion’s Bart Verbruggen and Sunderland’s Robin Roefs.
