Andy Robertson has backed Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak to turn things around after difficult debut seasons with Liverpool.
So much had been expected from the pair, who cost a combined £241m last summer, but neither have shown their best during a poor campaign from the Reds.
But despite their struggles, Robertson has claimed that he’s seen enough from Wirtz and Isak, as well as the rest of Liverpool‘s signings from the summer of 2025, to come good and have ‘unbelievable careers’ at Anfield.

Robertson predicts big-money signings will come good
It has not been all bad from Wirtz in particular this season, but it is undeniable that Liverpool had expected far more from he, Isak and the rest of their signings.
The first year may not have gone as planned, but according to Robertson, things will improve for the new players and Liverpool as a whole next season.
“We bought players that we all got excited about, and they will all have unbelievable careers at Liverpool. I have no doubt about that. But they are also young,” he said in quotes from The Athletic.
“The one thing I get annoyed about in football is that footballers do not control their price tag. The market controls it. These players will be successful for Liverpool. I have seen more than enough in training and in games and with their attitude. But it has been shown that they probably need a little bit of time.”

Touching on his wider hopes for Liverpool, Robertson claimed that nobody should be worried about the Reds finding success again in the near future.
“For the future of Liverpool I believe there’s more than enough in that changing room to go and achieve more things again,” he said,
“They can be successful again. I wish it was this season and then I would have maybe added a trophy or two into an already pretty impressive cabinet. It wasn’t meant to be, but next season they will be right back at it.”
Having bet so big on Wirtz and Isak especially, Liverpool will need to see a much better return during 2026/27. If they can step up and be the players they so obviously can be, the Reds will have a great chance of challenging for trophies once again.
