Liverpool will end the 2025/26 season without any form of silverware, but reported target Morgan Rogers has now clinched the Europa League with Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side beat German outfit Freiburg on Wednesday night, with Rogers scoring the third of their three goals to clinch the trophy.

After he found the back of the net in the showpiece, the former Middlesbrough talent became the youngest Englishman to score in a European final since Steven Gerrard.

Which Liverpool players SHOULD be playing their last game for the club vs Brentford?

Robertson and Salah are going, but there are a fair few who could be joining them…

Morgan Rogers is youngest English goalscorer in European final since Steven Gerrard

When he scored in the Europa League final, Rogers was 23 years and 298 days old.

Meanwhile, Gerrard was 20 years and 351 days old when he found the back of the net for Liverpool vs Alaves in the 2001 UEFA Cup final.

There is still a chance that record could be broken at some point before 2025/26 comes to a close, though.

Crystal Palace will line up for the Europa Conference League final on May 27, while Arsenal are set to take on PSG in this season’s Champions League final.

Regardless, it is an impressive feat from Rogers, who has been on Liverpool’s radar as we head towards the 2026 summer transfer window.

The Reds are set to lose Mohamed Salah for free after Brentford, while it has been suggested Federico Chiesa will depart as well.

That will leave a big gap in Arne Slot’s forward line, and the versatile Aston Villa man could fill the gap.

There was a suggestion that Liverpool are more likely to target Yan Diomande over Rogers

But Diomande has said he’s staying at RB Leipzig this summer, so perhaps the Englishman may become a higher priority now.

Rogers has 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 matches across all competitions this season while primarily playing as an attacking midfielder or off the left.
