Liverpool transfer round-up: Diomande decision, Chiesa price tag & Konate twist

Liverpool have plenty of moving parts to deal with before the summer window even opens, and Monday has brought updates at both ends of the squad.

There’s a fresh setback in the search for a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement, with one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers now appearing to be off the market.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have reportedly set their price for a forward who looks increasingly likely to leave, while there is also a fascinating twist in the future of Ibrahima Konate, whose contract situation has still not been resolved.

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

Yan Diomande makes Liverpool transfer stance clear

Liverpool are back to the drawing board in their search for a new right-winger.

Yan Diomande had been identified as a possible Salah successor, with the RB Leipzig star looking like one of the most exciting attacking talents in Europe.

But the 19-year-old has now made it clear that he is happy where he is.

Diomande has said he is not thinking about interest from other clubs right now, with Leipzig’s Champions League qualification the final factor in his decision.

Liverpool set Federico Chiesa asking price

Federico Chiesa’s time at Anfield looks to be coming to an end.

The Italian has never really come close to Arne Slot’s best XI, and it now feels like a summer exit would suit all parties. Still, Liverpool are not ready to let him go cheaply.

Chiesa and Liverpool have reportedly agreed that a departure is the best outcome, but the Reds are said to want between €20m and €25m.

That feels ambitious given how little he has played, but it is not unreasonable. Chiesa still has two years left on his contract and will not be short of interest in Italy. Roma, Napoli, Atalanta, AC Milan, Bologna and Juventus have all been named as possible destinations.

Ibrahima Konate contract situation takes another turn

Konate’s future is still unresolved, but the latest update suggests the hesitation may not be coming from the player.

The Frenchman said in April that he expected a contract agreement to be reached, but no extension has followed. Now, David Lynch has suggested Konate wants to stay at Liverpool, with the hold-up potentially coming from the club side.

If Konate were pushing for an exit or demanding unrealistic wages, Liverpool would have an easy decision to make. But if the player wants to stay, the Reds have to be absolutely sure before walking away.

There is already enough work to do this summer. Losing Konate would only add another major problem to the list.
