Liverpool’s new signing Jeremy Jacquet has said his goodbyes at Stade Rennais ahead of his summer switch to Anfield.

The Reds agreed a deal for the 20-year-old in January, with Jacquet remaining in France for the rest of the season before officially joining Liverpool ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

A shoulder injury which required surgery ended his Rennes season early. Even so, Jacquet was still able to come onto the pitch on Sunday as Rennes played their final home game of the campaign, giving supporters one last chance to show their appreciation before he heads to Merseyside.

Jeremy Jacquet closes Rennes chapter ahead of Liverpool move

Jacquet was made at Rennes.

The centre-back has been with the club for nine years and has gone from academy prospect to one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders. Liverpool’s willingness to commit a deal worth up to £60m says everything about how highly he is rated at Anfield.

It is a shame Jacquet could not round off his time at Rennes in the way he would have wanted. A final run of matches, a proper goodbye on the pitch and a chance to help the team win. Instead, his shoulder injury forced him to watch the closing weeks from the sidelines.

Jacquet leaves as a player who developed through their system, broke into the first team and earned a major Premier League move before his 21st birthday. That is a success story for both the player and the club.

The year is 2030, how much is Liverpool centre-back Jeremy Jacquet worth!? 💰

Liverpool will now hope his recovery progresses smoothly. Jacquet has already shared an injury update after surgery, preparing for a long rehabilitation phase before his move to England. Pre-season is the aim, but it could be longer.

Fortunately, Jacquet is being signed for the long term, not just for the opening weekend of next season.
