Liverpool have reportedly turned their attention to Monaco as they look to reinforce this summer and redeem what has been a dismal campaign.
Midfield help is needed, potentially more than one signing, while the Reds also need fresh faces in the forward areas. That is why Lamine Camara and Maghnes Akliouche look like such interesting targets.
Details of Liverpool’s interest have been reported in France, with both players expected to be available for significant but not outrageous fees. Akliouche is valued at around £45 million, while Camara could cost roughly £25 million.
You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?
Who should Richard Hughes be targeting above all…
Liverpool eye Maghnes Akliouche and Lamine Camara
According to L’Équipe, Liverpool have Akliouche in their sights.
The 24-year-old is under contract until 2028, but the report claims the prospect of spending around £45 million would not put Liverpool off.
Akliouche is exactly the type of player Liverpool should sign if they want more creativity and mobility in the final third. He can play from the right or as an attacking midfielder, and he has been one of Monaco’s standout creators this season.
He has produced eight goals and 12 assists in all competitions, including six goals and six assists in Ligue 1. Not out-of-this-world numbers, but his all-around value to the team has been evident all season.

Camara is a different profile.
The Senegal international joined Monaco from Metz two years ago and is now expected to earn the Ligue 1 side around double the £12m they paid for him. He is under contract until 2029, but Liverpool are said to be ‘keeping a close eye’ on him. Newcastle have also reportedly placed the 22-year-old high on their shortlist.
Camara would bring legs and physicality to the engine room at Anfield. He has made 30 appearances for Monaco this season, contributing one goal and four assists while anchoring the midfield.

The Reds need players who can raise the athletic level of the team, but they also want signings with potential for growth. Camara and Akliouche both fit that idea.
In today’s market, £70 million is a fairly common fee for just one promising young talent. If Liverpool could get two high-upside players from Monaco for around that figure, it would be a fantastic start to the summer window.
