Arne Slot has mostly avoided real sack talk at Liverpool, but many fans have reached their limit and so have some in the media.
The draw against Chelsea likely will not have too much bearing on where the Reds finish the season, but the manner of the performance and the hostile atmosphere from Liverpool fans at Anfield have made this result feel extra damaging.
The Liverpool manager is not coaching his team towards success right now, and Frank LeBoeuf thinks the time has come to give the ‘Slot out’ section of the fanbase what it wants.
Who should advance into the semi-final as Liverpool’s Player of the Year?
Ryan Gravenberch or Mohamed Salah? 🤔
He believes Liverpool should move for fan-favourite Xabi Alonso.
Frank LeBoeuf expects Liverpool to sack Arne Slot and hire Xabi Alonso
Alonso has been linked with Liverpool ever since he left Real Madrid, and many would love to see him take Slot’s place.
LeBoeuf has now joined that camp after Liverpool’s latest poor display against Chelsea.
He told ESPN: “I was with Craig at Wembley [for the Community Shield] where we already saw what was left from Jurgen Klopp, almost nothing. Slot brought in new players, but no good tactics I would say, according to what he had.
“And we saw that team going down and down. So I think that’s somewhat the end of it. I don’t see how he can turn it to a better team.

“He said that he had almost the recipe for next season. I don’t know how he’s going to do it, saying that he can prepare but there is the World Cup so I don’t see that coming.
“I don’t think the board will wait and especially because they have Xabi Alonso available. Well, why they will wait for Slot to find something different? I think they’re going to get rid of him. I think they’re going to get Xabi Alonso and all the fans will be very happy.”
That decision would certainly be popular with a loud portion of the fanbase.
FSG are still backing Slot for now, but the reaction at Anfield this weekend suggested plenty of supporters are already done with the Dutchman.
Has Slot completely lost the fans after Anfield booed his decision to take Ngumoha off?
What was your reaction to the substitution?
LeBoeuf clearly does not believe things will get better next season, and his Alonso point is obvious. The chance to hire an elite coach who also happens to be a Liverpool hero doesn’t come around often.
Liverpool are running out of games to use as evidence before the summer, and for many, the verdict has already been reached. They have seen enough and want Slot out.
At the end of the day, though, this decision lies with the club’s hierarchy.
The next few weeks should say a lot about whether they still believe Slot is the man to rebuild Liverpool, or whether they are ready to make the huge call LeBoeuf is now expecting.
