Clinton Morrison shares Liverpool fans’ frustration with Arne Slot after watching Saturday’s match with Chelsea.
When all was said and done, the Reds handed Chelsea a point, their first in six Premier League matches.
Supporters booed Slot during and after the game, and former player Morrison has also questioned the Dutchman’s ability after seeing Liverpool held by what had previously been a woeful Chelsea team.
Who was Liverpool’s best player in Saturday’s disappointing draw with Chelsea?
Some good amongst the bad
Clinton Morrison sick and tired of Arne Slot
Liverpool took an early lead in the tie with some help from an impressive Rio Ngumoha assist.
However, as Morrison pointed out post-match, the Reds then sat back and Slot made some poor substitutions, one of which saw Ngumoha taken off despite him providing the only attacking threat for much of the game.
Speaking on Sky’s Soccer Saturday, he said: “When you take the lead at Anfield, and you are against a struggling Chelsea team, you should go on and win.
“But after scoring the goal, they just sat back.
“Some of Slot’s substitutions were nowhere near good enough. I’m a bit sick and tired of him. He’ll make excuses and blame someone instead of looking himself.
“He is the manager and he should be solving the problem. But at the moment, he isn’t.”
The table after today’s bore draw. How damaging could the dropped points still prove to be?
We could do with Bournemouth losing…
It’s hard to argue with Morrison’s assessment after watching another below-par showing from Slot’s team.
Perhaps the most telling part of the game, though, was the fact that the majority of matchgoing fans booed the manager when he took Ngumoha off and then again at full-time.
It is easy to ignore the noise on social media, which can sometimes be a bit over the top.
But if Slot loses Anfield, which he already seems to have, it is hard to see how anyone at Liverpool can continue to think he is the right manager to lead the team in the 2026/27 season.
The Reds will still probably get Champions League football, but it really has been a woeful campaign and finishing fifth is nothing to celebrate.
