Liverpool have finally found a little bit of rhythm again in the Premier League after a largely dismal campaign.
Three consecutive league wins represents their best run since the five wins they began the season with, and that feels like a long, long time ago now. It has not solved everything, but April has at least brought some momentum back to Anfield at a crucial stage of the campaign.
That upturn has now been reflected in the Premier League’s monthly award nominations, with two Liverpool goals up for Goal of the Month, and Arne Slot shortlisted for Manager of the Month.
What does Arne Slot have to do to win you back next season❓💭
Arne Slot, Rio Ngumoha and Andy Robertson up for April Premier League awards
Slot’s nomination is a fair reflection of a badly needed response. Liverpool had looked flat for most of the season, but April has brought a sharper edge, better results and a little more control.
It’s not like they were perfect performances, but the Reds have got into the habit of winning at the right time.
The two goal nominations are well deserved.
Rio Ngumoha’s came in the 2-0 win over Fulham, showing the kind of quality that reminded everyone why Liverpool fans are so excited about his future.

The teenager worked space on the left with a series of stepovers and jinks, then bent a brilliant effort beyond Bernd Leno and into the far corner. Liverpool’s own match report described it as a ‘beautiful curler’ and his first competitive goal at Anfield.
Andy Robertson’s effort against Palace is much fresher in the memory.
It started with Freddie Woodman making a huge save, before Liverpool broke quickly and Curtis Jones released Robertson into the box. The left-back kept his finish calm, firing low into the bottom corner to put Liverpool 2-0 up.
It has been a much better month for Liverpool, and the nominations reflect that. What really matters is continuing this trajectory into the month of May.
