Amid talk around replacements for Mohamed Salah, a new name has now been mooted alongside Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue.

Barcola and Doue were both named on a seven-man shortlist of potential options to take over from Salah when he leaves at the end of 2025/26.

The duo have been impressing on the books of PSG, and one of their teammates, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is now being mooted as a possible transfer target for Liverpool as well.

Which players should Liverpool target to replace Mohamed Salah this summer? 🤔

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia appreciated by Liverpool

Speaking on Give Me Sport’s YouTube channel this week, journalist Ben Jacobs was discussing how Salah could be replaced at Anfield.

When doing so, he said that along with Barcola and Doue, Kvaratskhelia is also liked by the Reds.

He said: “Of course, there is appreciation for a player like Bradley Barcola or Desire Doue or Kvaratskhelia and several clubs like these names.”

However, Jacobs also suggested he was not sure if the Ligue 1 powerhouse, who Liverpool are set to face in the next round of the Champions League, would be open to parting ways with any of the trio.

He continued: “But are any of them going to be allowed to leave PSG? At this stage, I have no indication that a sale is on the cards and Liverpool are very astute. They don’t enter usually lost causes unless they think that the players are genuinely available.

Is Mohamed Salah Liverpool’s greatest EVER player?

Liverpool’s failed pursuit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Prior to signing for PSG in 2025, Kvaratskhelia was excelling with Serie A outfit Napoli.

Before his move to the French capital, Liverpool actually tried to sign the winger.

Gianluca Di Marzio then later revealed how close the Reds came to landing Kvaratskhelia when he was still honing his craft in Italy.

Speaking in March 2025, he said: “In the final days of the summer transfer window, the Reds put a monstrous offer on the table: around 100 million euros to buy the Georgian.

“The English club, however, had the intention of leaving the 2001-born player on loan to Napoli for a year. The Azzurri did not consider the solution and decided to refuse the rich offer.”

It is a missed opportunity to say the least, with the 25-year-old, who Jamie Carragher has previously called ‘the most exciting player in Europe’ (via CBS), already scoring 12 and assisting seven this term.
