After Mo Salah’s announcement, Andy Robertson has come out with a touching message to his long-time Liverpool teammate.

Robertson may well be following him out the door this summer, and if he does, he should also get a hero’s send-off.

For now, it’s Salah’s Liverpool exit that is dominating the headlines, with the Scot taking to social media to pay tribute to a true club legend.

He thanks the Egyptian for all he has done for Liverpool, while also making a big claim about his legacy on Merseyside.

Andy Robertson bids farewell to Mo Salah with nod to his greatness

Not long after the news broke, Robertson released a lengthy statement in tribute to his teammate of almost a decade.

He writes on Instagram: “Mohammed, Thank you. Nine of the best years of our lives with amazing memories on and off the pitch. Watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the best to ever have worn the Liverpool shirt has been a joy to watch and be part of.

“Your mentality is second to none and a lot of people could take note. You have pushed yourself every single day and always demanded more from yourself and others. A pleasure sharing the pitch with you for so long but even more so being able to call you a friend.

“You deserve a send-off that reflects your status at LFC — the greatest, second to none.”

Enough to make a grown man cry. Robertson and Salah achieved everything together and formed a special friendship along the way. And he goes so far as to put the winger in a league of his own among Liverpool greats.

While his teammate has made a final call, Robertson’s Liverpool future is uncertain. Though a betting man would surely tip the 32-year-old for an exit.

Regardless of how this season goes, or how it has gone so far, this farewell tour is going to be equal parts emotional and exciting. Can the two Liverpool greats bring joy to the city one last time?
