After falling to defeat at the Amex on Saturday, Liverpool fans haven’t been shy about assigning blame.

No Liverpool players painted themselves in glory against Brighton. It was an all-too-familiar lifeless display that tells the story of the season.

The players are off on international duty, but those most at fault during the weekend’s game aren’t dodging criticism.

Which Liverpool player would you most like to see lift the World Cup this summer?

And which one has the best chance…

Users on Rousing The Kop’s TalkingPoints platform have had their say, and it’s the two centre-backs, a stand-in striker, and unsurprisingly, Arne Slot.

Liverpool fans call out Cody Gakpo, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Arne Slot

Liverpool’s usual suspects were at fault against Brighton — Cody Gakpo and Ibrahima Konate continue to struggle. It’s becoming a concerning trend that these two are consistently at the scene of the crime in the Reds’ worst performances.

It was Gakpo who won the vote for worst performer, taking in 53% of the votes.

One fan explains his vote: “Gakpo is just not performing I’m just wondering why he keeps his spot when he should maybe come as a sub after we start with Rio.”

Konate earned 35% of the vote. He really hasn’t been on it in recent weeks.

Real Madrid’s interest in Konate is cooling, and it will continue to do so if this is the level he is at for the remainder of the season. It really looked at one point like the Frenchman had turned it around.

As one fan says: “Konate has fallen off a cliff, again.”

Another Liverpool fan adds: “Most saying Konate and it’s hard not to agree. However, in fairness to him, they all need to look in the mirror.”

And a final critique: “Ibrahima Konate continues to perform badly, but still he is having a game time. This coach is losing all his tactics.”

Captain Virgil van Dijk was brought up less, but enough to suggest he wasn’t at the races. As this fan points out: “VVD… fast asleep for the second goal.”

Danny Welbeck ran riot on Liverpool, and that shouldn’t be happening.

Slot continues to draw criticism from fans. His inclusion was to be expected. Patience continues to wear thin.

This fan exclaims: “Stop these unnecessary questions. The worst performer is the coach, Slot.”

Just how bad do you want Arne Slot gone? 😬

Similarly: “Slot’s style: clueless.”

This fan really has had enough: “Where do I start? Slot’s poor decision making, why bring on Jones for Eiktike, why take off Konate and put on Chiesa and why again push Dom back to right back?… He has no plan B. He will make excuses, sorry it’s really time for him to go.”

The international break is well-timed for Liverpool, giving everyone some distance from the circus that has been this season. The sentiment is very much a negative one right now. The only way to change that is with results.
