Dominik Szoboszlai names two reasons he was ‘pretty angry’ after Galatasaray loss

Dominik Szoboszlai has expressed his frustration after Liverpool suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Galatasaray in the Champions League earlier this week.

Jamie Carragher still thinks the Reds will qualify for the quarter-finals despite being poor on Tuesday.

But Liverpool now have all the work to do at Anfield, and Szoboszlai has expressed his frustration at the result, and how his side played in the first meeting in Turkey.

Arne Slot thinks Tottenham will be a tough game because of their new manager, who has lost four games in a row! 😵‍💫

Dominik Szoboszlai questions Liverpool’s performance vs Galatasaray

Speaking to the club’s media team, the Hungarian feels Liverpool just didn’t show their top level, which he admits left him ‘pretty angry’.

He stated: “I was pretty angry after the game because of the result but not only about that. Because I feel that we didn’t play in a way like we should and we can.

“Because we showed it so many times that we are able to win against any team actually or compete against any team in the league or in European football.

“We have to really focus on the upcoming games because now it’s Tottenham on Sunday and next week on Wednesday is going to be a big game – I can’t wait for it.”

Szoboszlai isn’t the only one to question Liverpool after the midweek action.

Jermaine Pennant is ‘done’ with Slot after the Dutchman opted to leave 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha on the bench despite chasing the game.

Elsewhere, Ibrahima Konate was criticised by fans for his display, with one suggesting the centre-back was like ‘Bambi on ice’.

There were even calls for Slot to leave, but reports in the following days have said that Liverpool are backing their manager for the time being.

Will that still be the case come the end of 2025/26? Well, if the Reds are knocked out of the Champions League and do not finish inside the Premier League top-four/five this season, it is hard to see how anyone at the club could class this as anything other than a poor campaign.
