Stephen Warnock has suggested Liverpool’s struggles in the Premier League could lead to Arne Slot’s dismissal.

Liverpool will need to pay less than £10m if they wish to sack Slot ahead of next season getting underway.

At present, they are on course to finish outside of the Champions League places, which Stephen Warnock thinks will be enough to seal the Dutchman’s fate.

Stephen Warnock says Liverpool won’t get Champions League and Arne Slot will be sacked by 2026/27

Now, speaking to the BBC, ex-Red Warnock has said that the 47-year-old will not be in charge come August of this year.

He is of the opinion that the Reds don’t have the ability to make it into the Champions League places this term as well.

Warnock stated: “No, I don’t [think Slot will be in charge come 2026/27].

“It’s a big ask for them to get a Champions League place. It’s going to be very difficult. They’re so inconsistent that I don’t see them winning every game until the end of the season. It’s going to be very difficult for him to stay in charge.

“They’re nowhere near where they’d like to be. It’s not gone to plan at all.”

Warnock’s claims come during what has been a difficult midweek of action for Liverpool, who lost to Championship-bound Wolves on Saturday.

Liverpool’s Champions League chances after Chelsea overtake Arne Slot’s side

After dropping three points to Rob Edwards’ side, Reds fans had to watch on as Chelsea dominated Newcastle United in their latest Premier League clash on March 4.

Following that result, the Blues have overtaken Liverpool in the table, and Slot’s men are currently on course to miss out on the Champions League and settle for a Europa League spot.

Opta now give the Merseyside outfit a 40.35% chance of qualifying for Europe’s premier competition next term, while Chelsea are given 41.40% chance.

Manchester United, despite suffering their first defeat under Michael Carrick this week, remain favourites to take fourth place and are given 55.53% chance of making it into the Champions League.
