Reds fans were given 24 hours to choose between Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson as the most underrated Liverpool legend.

The pair were massively influential in the success Liverpool enjoyed under Jurgen Klopp.

Henderson captained the side to every major trophy available, and was the heart and the engine of one of the best teams the Premier League has ever seen.

That success wouldn’t have happened without the lethal attack of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Firmino. He made Klopp’s side tick.

And who will come out as number one?

Fans on Rousing The Kop’s TalkingPoints platform gave the edge to the Brazilian, winning the poll with 65% of the vote.

Why Liverpool fans think Roberto Firmino is more underrated than Jordan Henderson

It ended up being a convincing poll win for Firmino, who never got the attention his other front-three teammates received.

Salah and Mane were the sharp edge of the Liverpool attack, and the unselfishness their centre-forward played with unlocked the very best version of them.

As one fan explained perfectly: “Bobby for me… Salah and Mane got most of the glory, would have been nothing without Firmino.”

This fan agrees completely, writing: “Ooo this is a tough one! But Bobby was such a special player, you don’t get Mane and Salah without him. Always joy to watch, which Hendo occasionally was not…”

Firmino is as beloved in the fanbase as the day he left: “Our Bobby doesn’t get enough credit.”

It’s by no means an easy choice, and that was reflected in the two having around 50% of the vote for the first 12 hours.

The difficulty of the decision is explained by this fan: “That’s a tough one. Hendo lead by example through fighting hard, being the loudest, holding other players accountable. Bobby was quiet, great attitude and lead with class and grace, the most selfless player we’ve had. If was pinned down I’d go Bobby on this one.”

A perfect description of their strengths.

Who was the better Liverpool goalkeeper – prime Alisson or prime Pepe Reina?

Those in Henderson’s corner had a solid argument too.

One fan writes: “Henderson is definitely the more underrated of the two, He doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Ultimate team player.”

The former captain gave it all for the badge, and his leadership can be credited for the amount of silverware they collected together.

One more for Henderson: “Bobby is the better player, but Hendo was our captain when we won every trophy available, has to be him. What a leader.”

I struggled between the two, but actually ended up going for Henderson. I just think everyone acknowledges how gifted a footballer Firmino was, but the Englishman is often unfairly characterised as a work horse and a mentality player, while his technical ability isn’t lauded enough.

Both are legends of Liverpool, though, and the fans have spoken.
