Liverpool have really stepped up their transfer spending in the last 12 months.
On Deadline Day, a deal for Jeremy Jacquet was done for around £55m plus £5m in add-ons.
It follows on from what was a hectic summer transfer window, which saw Liverpool spend over £400m and break the British transfer record for Alexander Isak.
But while Isak may have expected to be the main man at Anfield this season, injury and fitness issues have limited the Swede’s impact so far.
Instead, Hugo Ekitike has been the player leading the line for the Merseysiders this term.
How many goals will Hugo Ekitike end up with this season?
He's surely heading past 20
Hugo Ekitike is just like a young Thierry Henry
Most recently, Ekitike scored a brace to help Liverpool come from behind to beat Newcastle United 4-1 on Saturday.
Now, former centre-back Steven Caulker has taken to LinkedIn to share his verdict on the Frenchman.
When doing so, he said Liverpool completed a great bit of business with the striker, who he compared to Arsenal and France hero Thierry Henry.
Caulker wrote: “How good is Hugo Ekitike? He reminds me so much of a young Thierry Henry: his physique, his swagger, and his lethal finishing.
“He is looking like the real deal, and still only 23 years of age!
“Great bit of business by Liverpool. In this current market, £82.4 million is somewhat of a bargain, especially if he goes on to fulfil his potential.”
PROVE ME WRONG: Hugo Ekitike WILL have a better Liverpool career than Luis Suarez
How Hugo Ekitike could earn place in Liverpool history books
This season has already seen Ekitike match a Liverpool record alongside Kenny Dalglish.
But with over three months of the campaign to go, there is time for the 22-year-old to make more history.
After netting against Newcastle, Ekitike now sits on 15 goals across all competitions this term.
At present, Fernando Torres (33 in 2007/08) holds the record for most goals scored by a centre-forward during their debut campaign at Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah (44 in 2017/18) has the most goals of any new Reds stars, though it would be quite something if Ekitike was able to match the Egyptian from here.
