Another game, another elite Liverpool performance from Florian Wirtz.
There were top displays all over the pitch against Newcastle, but Hugo Ekitike and Wirtz stood out again.
Well, them and Ibrahima Konate, who had already registered a fine performance before he grabbed a stoppage-time goal to put a bow on the win for Liverpool.
After a difficult couple of weeks, it was great to see him back at the heart of defence.
Livepool scored four brilliant goals against Newcastle, but which was your favourite?
In his post-match interview, he revealed something Wirtz said before the start of the season — something that could become a reality, judging by recent form.
Florian Wirtz’s promise to Ibrahima Konate upon arriving at Liverpool
It might not have been perfect from the start, but Wirtz has really come into his own in a Liverpool shirt.
But long before he hit this purple patch, the German already knew he was going to come good.
That’s according to Konate, who told TNT Sports: “Very happy for him. He just showed to the world his quality and for me, he hasn’t reached his peak right now; this will come very soon.
“[speaking to Wirtz] I know what you said in the pre-season, how many goals and assists you will do… I cannot say but if he gets that, it will be crazy…”

You can tell by the way he plays, Wirtz has no shortage of confidence.
But what kind of number must he have predicted to be deemed crazy by his teammate?
Whatever the target is, he’ll come close if he keeps showing this kind of danger in the final third. It’s already ten goal involvements for Liverpool now after Saturday night’s exploits.
A special performance from Ibrahima Konate
Just ten days after the passing of his father, Konate returned to Liverpool and went straight back into the starting XI.
He didn’t just get back to his usual level — he exceeded it.
Newcastle were having no joy with the Frenchman, and his goal at the death was more than deserved.
Where does Ibrahima Konate rank in Liverpool’s greatest Premier League centre-backs?
He was COLOSSAL vs Newcastle
The scenes that followed were emotional, with all of his Liverpool teammates running over to celebrate. Alisson ran the length of the pitch to do so.

Konate told TNT he came back so soon because of the injuries that have plagued the squad recently. That’s the kind of mentality that fans will love.
