Ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Newcastle, Danny Murphy has discussed a change he has noticed at the club — one that makes every match that bit more important.
Liverpool need their European form to translate to form in the league.
With how congested the table is right now, every falter can be punished and places can be lost.
Happy with Szoboszlai at right-back, Reds?
And would you have done anything different?
Liverpool have been far worse in the Premier League, and that will have to change if Murphy’s big concern is going to be addressed.
Danny Murphy worries about Liverpool fans losing belief
Ahead of Liverpool’s Saturday night outing, ex-Red Murphy was discussing what he sees as a significant shift in attitude from many of the fans.
It’s to be expected that heads will drop considering how poorly Liverpool have fared domestically since the turn of the year.
But the negativity he has noticed is as bad as it has been for some time.
He writes for the Premier League’s live coverage: “They’re struggling, they’re in trouble. The fan base is shifting, which hasn’t happened for a long time. It’s a massive game tonight.
“They don’t want to lose ground on Chelsea and Man Utd in the race for Champions League football, but it’s also huge for Slot and his relationship with the fanbase.”
The Slot concerns have been inescapable in the Liverpool fanbase, especially with Xabi Alonso available to replace him.
Something we saw ahead of the game at Anfield, though, suggests there is still every chance of getting the fans back onside.

Arne Slot backed by the Kop with banner at Anfield
The growing disdain for Arne Slot has further dampened an already dull mood around Liverpool this season.
He doesn’t always help himself either. Slot’s bizarre press conferences recently have not helped his case with the fans.
What have you made of Slot’s recent press conferences?
The Dutchman is starting to annoy a LOT of people 😱
But the sight of a banner saying, ‘Arne Slot machine, let’s believe’, suggests there are still those amongst the match-going fans who still believe in the man who won a league title in his first season at Liverpool.
With FSG clearly holding tough with Slot, seeing the fans get behind the manager is a welcome sight. Hopefully he can repay the favour with an upturn in performances.
