Liverpool manager Arne Slot continues to see questions asked about his future following a difficult 2025/26 season so far.
The Dutchman guided the Merseyside outfit to just their second-ever Premier League title last year.
But the way 2025/26 has panned out so far, that feels like an age ago. Liverpool host Newcastle United on Saturday evening and go into that game still eyeing up a first league win of 2026.
Will Xabi Alonso be Liverpool manager by the start of the 2026/27 season?
If no, where will he be instead?
It follows on from a run of nine defeats in 12 across all competitions earlier in the campaign.
Liverpool fans have grown angry at Slot in the last several months, with Steven Gerrard saying the manager is under pressure.
Liverpool player’s agent backs Arne Slot
But the agent of one Liverpool player has now spoken out about the Dutchman.
In a piece from the Daily Mail, the anonymous agent, who is said to represent a ‘prominent’ player, threw his support behind Slot and seemed to suggest the 47-year-old needs time to build the team up.
He said: “It’s madness. Slot is a very good coach trying to build a new team.
“He just needs some time. He is different to Klopp, but I am not sure how that has to be viewed as a bad thing.”
Rank Alexander Isak against these past and present Liverpool strikers!
Squad building no longer an excuse for Arne Slot
Liverpool, of course, spent over £400m in the summer transfer window and earlier in the season, claims that the recent additions needed time to get up to speed were valid.
Florian Wirtz came under fire, while Milos Kerkez was questioned after his move from Bournemouth.
Months later, however, all of Wirtz, Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike are among some of the Reds’ best performers in recent games.
The only player who has yet to impress since signing is Alexander Isak, after his season was marred by injury and fitness issues.
Normally, having a big-name striker struggle would be a problem, but Ekitike has more than covered for the Swede.
So if Liverpool’s signings are now settled, why can’t they win a game in the Premier League?
