Andy Robertson has firmly cemented himself as one of the greatest defenders in Liverpool’s modern history.

The quartet of Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson brought so much success and joy to the fanbase for many years.

However, Alexander-Arnold has already departed for Real Madrid, and his full-back counterpart could now follow suit.

Tottenham are in talks to sign the Liverpool left-back this month, though it has also been said Robertson will only move if all parties agree it is in the interest of everyone.

At present, though, it’s looking likely that the Scotsman will be on his way out of Anfield this month.

What Andy Robertson said about Liverpool future after Premier League title win

As mentioned, Robertson played a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s side winning their first Premier League title back in 2020.

The now 31-year-old played 36 league matches, scored two goals and provided an impressive 12 assists that term.

Liverpool were crowned champions in June of that year due to the delayed season, and shortly after their success was confirmed, Robertson conducted an interview with talkSPORT.

Jim White asked the player if he was now going to see out his career on Merseyside.

He responded: “That’s my plan. Whether I’m good enough at 33 or 34 to continue to do that, we’ll wait and see.

“But I don’t want to go anywhere, this club is so special to me in a short space of time. My family love it, I love it and I don’t want to go anywhere else.

Why Andy Robertson may have changed his mind about leaving Liverpool

Five and a half years on, a lot has changed at Liverpool.

Firstly, Jurgen Klopp, who Robertson described as being ‘like a father figure’ in the aforementioned interview, has now left.

Secondly, Milos Kerkez, the first real proper left-back competition for the Scotsman, arrived from Bournemouth this summer.

Kerkez took some time to get up to speed, but he’s recently become Slot’s preferred choice and has been playing very well.

Still only 31, Robertson may feel he still has a lot to give at the highest level, so securing an exit could well now be on his mind.
